Irma la Douce (1960 - Six Tonys)

Irma La Douce (1960) won six Tony Awards, including Best Actress. A Paris “poule” works to support her impoverished lover against his wishes. He poses as a rich elderly roué and becomes her exclusive client. The double life is too demanding so he “eliminates” the old gent and is arrested. Songs: "Our Language of Love," "There is Only One Paris for That" and "That’s a Crime."

Tovarich (1963 - Two Tonys)

Tovarich (1963) won two Tony Awards, including Best Actress (Vivien Leigh). Former members of the late Tsar’s court work as servants to Americans in Paris in 1927 while avoiding the Communists sent to capture and return them to Moscow. Songs: "Say You’ll Stay," "Nitchevo," "Wilkes-Barre, PA,""That Face," "A Small Cartel," "I Know the Feeling" and "Stuck with Each Other."
